Hi everyone,
It’s been an extraordinarily long time since I released a WeeklyGigs newsletter, in fact the last one was Nov. 25.
To be honest, the pandemic and lockdowns really took a toll on me both emotionally and financially. I’m sure many of you have faced the same thing — being drained of energy when every morning you are stuck in your apartment, going from bed to couch and back to bed. A year of lockdown is rough.
HackPack did have a solid year financially in 2020, but a number of loans coming due have limited our abilities and kept everything focused on revenue-making activities.
So I needed some time to recharge and identify the best path forward. I’m still working out the specifics of that path, but it’s starting to materialize more and more each day.
What’s that mean for the WeeklyGigs?
I’ve always considered the WeeklyGigs a tool to bring benefit to you and drive activity on HackPack. The goal was that by seeing the types of posts on HackPack, you’d similarly share projects or funding opportunities that you found with the community and we’d together make a great list for members. That hasn’t really happened and the WeeklyGigs hasn’t become a self-sustaining newsletter.
To adjust to that reality, I’ve decided to:
Continue the WeeklyGigs once every 2 weeks on Fridays, so say hi to the‘bi-WeeklyGigs’!
Encourage you all to share on HackPack opportunities, grants and fellowships that you’ve seen and found in various places
Consider changing the newsletter and HackPack feed, so that you only can view them IF you have posted 3 times in a month or pay 5USD. This concept is open for debate, but it’s currently my best idea on how to make it self-sustaining and keep helping you all.
Happy to hear your thoughts and suggestions on how to ensure the ‘bi-WeeklyGigs’ are self-sustainable!
Now on to the top opportunities on HackPack!
Remember, HackPack is a community where we help other great freelancers around the world discover interesting opportunities. Share what you find, so others will benefit! You can target posts by language, location and area of expertise to make sure others in the industry benefit too. We’re all in this together!
